Horse Barn Addition

Early in 2011, we finished an addition to an oak post and beam barn for clients whom we’d previously worked for.

The structure added 8 stalls and a tenant apartment to an existing barn built five years earlier.

Before starting the structure, we spent a month locating and moving all the underground utilities.

Timbersmith’s Inc., out of Gordonsville VA, provided the oak post and beam frame.

With cypress siding and a copper roof on the exterior, and pine paneling and stable fronts from Lucas Equine, the addition is a seamless fit to the original barn.

Before completing the job and leaving the site, we also built an outside fireplace and patio, mounting court for the barn, a stone retaining wall and a pair of entry gates.

The original barn and addition were both designed by Mark P Finlay Architects of Southport, CT.
