James River Estate House

This custom home, designed by local architect Bob Anderson, is the fourth project we have completed for this client over the past several years.

We like to think that once the builder, always the builder for our clients; we work hard to gain their confidence and multiple projects are the sign of a successful relationship.

Notes from Bill

Originally slated to be a major renovation and addition to an existing farmhouse, the decision was made instead, to dismantle the structure and build all new. The end result is a beautiful 10,000 SF home that sits on the crest of a hill and overlooks the James River.

The farmhouse was carefully dismantled, denailed, resawn, kiln dried, and milled into the old pine paneling, trim, flooring, and cabinetry for the saloon.

In addition, we reclaimed the dry stack foundation and chimney brick to reuse in new retaining walls and stair landings. Working with salvaged material is something we always try to incorporate into our projects.
